Solutions > Planning

It is the Planner’s responsibility to orchestrate the Customers demand for a product by a requested delivery date and shepherd this through the manufacturing and assembly process. Work Order (W/O) release, manufacturing sequencing, capacity allocation, shortage clearing and order fulfillment are all part of the responsibility of a Planner. The task includes many challenges from purchasing delinquencies, sub contracting delays, work cell capacity planning and product yield to engineering change, S/O amendments and unplanned equipment failures. The task is arduous and complicated and has given rise to the term “Dump and Chase” when referring to the planning function. The key to simplifying the Planners tasks with the confidence that the obligations to the customer is met, is, INFORMATION. The Planner needs to see globally what the status of all items that comprise the finished product is at, at every level of assembly and test process. MRP or ERP fall far short of what is required to address the dynamics of the challenge that confront a Planner daily. With only ERP as the tool at his/her disposal the Planner sees segments, each of which have to be filed and combined to provide the full picture of the current status. Unfortunately to stitch together the entire picture is not only difficult and time consuming but can be made obsolete by a single unplanned event. iQube SOS removes the tasks for creating these global views on a continuous basis by supplying the Planner the ability to gather all their relevant information live from the MRP or ERP system and refresh that information by simple point and click. iQube SOS will provide for any or all S/O, all requirements, planned or released; netted shortages at all levels of the indented bill; all locations of sub-assemblies released or planned; all completed as well as planned W/O; the names of the Planners and Buyers that are involved with any and all part of the projects.

Below are some of the critical questions that iQube SOS answers in a single consolidated report to a Planner. These reports enable Planners to navigate the constantly changing ocean of information needed to successfully bring S/O’s to successful completion.

• Which W/O are released to fulfill S/O?
• Which W/O are planned to fulfill S/O?
• Who are the Planners for the planned W/O?
• What W/O are released but not kitted?
• What shortages are there to released or planned W/O?
• At what W/O level are the identified shortages?
• Who are the buyers and what is the new dock date?
• What has not been purchased, for released or planned W/O?
• What is the dock date of shortages for specific S/O?
• What is the dock date for the last part short?
• Can a short part be re-allocated to clear a specific S/O?
• What is the impact on other S/O if the parts are re-allocated?
• Is the S/O or any sub assembly cleared to build?
• What sub assembly is not cleared to build?
• Is the build plan still aligned?
• What is the earliest W/O start date?
• Is there capacity in the cells to meet the ship date?
• How many standard hours is needed to meet the planned shipment date
• What’s the lead time to build?
• What is the cell need date to meet alignment
• What is the status of the entire indented bill to need date? Where is the bottleneck?
• Is there adequate Kanban for a sub assembly?
• What is the subcontractor status to meet alignment?
